An attempt to understand myself through tracking my behavior and visualizing the data I recorded.
Inspired by Dear Data Project by Giorgia Lupi and Stefanie Posavec, I recorded the way I react to acquantainces around me over a week period, specifically how I engage (saying hi) or remove (walk away) myself from the situation and the effect of such actions on me.

I chose the imagery of butterflies, a pretty creature yet have a lots of disturbing facts, to represent how human interaction is beautiful yet can be scary at times. I also thought about the term “social butterfly” a lot as I planned the visual for this project.
The green pattern represent the number of good outcomes I gained from interacting with “scary” acquantainces while the reddish orange were the times I chose to remove myself and ended up feeling bad.
Through.the an abstract visualization of concrete data, I want to inspire people to think more about human interaction and its nuances.
